1.) Get up close! Take your pet’s photo in a well-lit space, ideally using natural light and without any filters.
2.) Capture them head-on. Try to include as much of the ears, head, neck, and chest as possible so we can crop the portrait nicely around your pet’s face.
3.) Avoid tricky angles. Overhead shots, heavily filtered images, blurry photos, or pictures of your pet lying down can be difficult for us to illustrate.

Yes! We create portraits for all kinds of animals around the world—from adorable bunnies and pet birds to horses and reptiles. If it’s an animal, chances are we can turn it into a portrait for you.
We’re happy to help with changes to your pet portrait order—just make sure to contact us at hello@paintandtail.com within 24 hours of placing your order.
After 24 hours, most changes may no longer be possible. Please note that in some cases, order updates may also result in slight shipping delays.
Absolutely! You’ll receive a preview of your portrait before it’s printed, and we include free revisions to make sure everything looks just right. Once you’re happy with the design, we’ll have it printed and sent on its way to you.

Each order is crafted from scratch to capture your pet's unique essence. illustration times typically range from 2-3 working days, but during busy periods, they may extend to 3-5 working days, depending on complexity and order volume. We always send a preview via email and request your approval before printing. If a printed portrait is not approved within 3 working days, it will be printed and shipped.
